Jackie Ard Obituary

Age 63 passed away peacefully in her home in Leslie Arkansas on July 8, 2014. She was born in Independence , LA on February 26, 1951. She graduated from Hammond High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Katherine Hoyt, three sisters, Bonnie Lopez, Joan Mahan and Henrietta Sally Hoyt. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Ard, Aunt, Octavia Boothe, Sister, Ada (Sis) McCullen and numerous nieces and nephews. She was well known from her performances as a singer around Southern Louisiana. She worked for an extended time at the Baton Rouge Business Report and recently worked in McComb, MS for Jim Alford. She and her husband lived in Osyka , MS prior to settling into their new home in Leslie, Arkansas nestled in the woods as this was a long time dream for them both. She spent many days enjoying the surrounding woods and nature while walking with her beloved dog Sadie. Jackie will be sorely missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to your favorite charity.

I was in a band with Jackie back in the early 90's. What a soulful singer!!! She was way to young to go.RIP. Jackie!!!!

My wife and I are saddened to learn of the passing of a dear friend. I played in 2 bands with her. She was a consummate professional and had such a winning personality. She will surely be missed. Our prayers are with the family. May God bless you and comfort you.

I was in a band in the eighties with Jackie, and I am saddened to hear of her passing. She was very talented and loved by everyone and I have nothing but fond memories of her. My condolences to the entire family...

I became friends with Jackie in the 1980s. I was a Hammond, Louisiana DJ, proudly playing her records. Her booming voice was surpassed only by the size of her heart. I'm sorry for your loss. We were all lucky to have known her.
