James Bell Obituary

Funeral services were held for James Gordon Bell, 89, of Ethel, Miss., on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Culpepper Funeral Home with burial in Stonewall Cemetery in Ethel. Pallbearers were James Taylor, Gary LaRose, Paul Joiner, Trey Monson, Robert Monson and Jason Alldread. Honorary pallbearers are Dayn Alldread and Dena Monson. Bell, a retired salesman for the Armour Co., died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson, Miss. He was a native of Attala County, Miss., and a longtime resident of Denham Springs. He served in the Coast Guard in World War II and was a member of Ethel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a skilled woodsman and fisherman and an avid LSU fan. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathleen Bell, of Ethel; two daughters, Kaye Monson and husband Jim, of Baton Rouge, and Glynn Alldread and husband Gary, of Ethel; a brother, Charles Bell, of Ethel; two sisters, Laura Russell and Lucy Knight, both of Ethel; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
