James Winston Chustz

James "Winston" Chustz, affectionately known as "Brother" by his family, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Louisiana Veterans Home in Jackson at the age of 82. He was a native and resident of New Roads. Winston was a Navy Veteran. He spent 17 years at Copolymer and 19 years at Amoco BP before retiring. Visitation will be at Niland's Funeral Home in New Roads on Thursday, July 4, 2024 from 8:30 am until 11:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church at 12 noon, celebrated by Rev. Christopher Decker. Entombment will follow in False River Memorial Park Mausoleum. Winston is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanelle Hebert Chustz; their children, Randy Chustz and wife Lauren, Andy Chustz, Jamie Chustz and wife Cheryl; eight grandchildren; Ryan Chustz and wife Tamara, Reba Chustz, Brandon Chustz, Carter Chustz, Addie Chustz, Dane Chustz, Lauren "Nikki" Peffer and husband Travis, Leah Turner; great-grandchildren, Nathan Hart, Rylan Chustz, Rainey Chustz, Kinley Chustz, Jayda Chustz, Jett Peffer; his sisters, Gerry Crochet, Dianne Grady and husband Tom, and Elaine Legasse; sister-in-law, Keeley Nickens Chustz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Winston was preceded in death by his parents, James "Herman" and Lillian Fabre Chustz; brother, Gregory Paul Chustz, brother-in-law, Bobby Crochet. Pallbearers will be Carter Chustz, Dane Chustz, Nathan Hart, Kel Segura, Louie Bunch and Ryan Chustz. Honorary pallbearers will be Rylan Chustz, Jimmy Chustz and Ralph Chustz. Winston was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Old Miss Hunting Club. Once Winston retired he could be found riding his tractor and checking on his cows. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Louisiana Veterans Home staff in Jackson for their care and compassion while Winston was there.
