Jimmy Williams Obituary

Jimmy Ray Williams Jr. was called to his heavenly home on July 7, 2022, at the age of 43. Jimmy was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 10, 1979. He is the son of Jimmy Williams Sr. and the late Bobby Jean Williams. Jimmy is married to his college sweetheart and beautiful wife Chandra of 20 years, and he is the father to Carter "Ace" Jameson whom he adored. Jimmy attended Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, where he not only excelled in playing football, baseball, basketball, and track, but was also in select choir, theater, ROTC and even Japanese Club where he participated in a six-week Japanese exchange program. Jimmy received a full scholarship to Vanderbilt University where he earned a bachelor's degree in human and organizational development with a minor in health and human services. He continued to excel on the football field as a Commodore, being named to the Freshman All-SEC Team for his contributions as a running back and later earning All-SEC Team honors for his role as a cornerback. In 2001, Jimmy was drafted into the National Football League by the Buffalo Bills. After a brief pre-season stint with the Bills, he signed with the San Francisco 49ers where he played four seasons and played two seasons for the Seattle Seahawks. Jimmy went on to play for the Houston Texans for one year. Jimmy finished his career with 151 tackles, three interceptions and 13 pass breakups, and was inducted into the hall of fame at Episcopal, his high school alma mater. After retiring from the NFL, Jimmy returned to Episcopal to be a teacher and coach and he recently served as defensive coordinator and assistant athletic director. Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean Williams; grandparents, Mable Brown, and Jimmy Williams; great-grandmother, Irene Williams; great aunt, Cora Lee "Auntee" Jones; mother-in-law, Sandra Joseph; father-in-law, Gerald Joseph Sr. and brother-in-law, Gerald Joseph Jr. Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful wife Chandra; loving son, Ace; his father, Jimmy Williams Sr.; two siblings, Anthony (Terri) McCray and Shalonda Hawkins (Tran Myers) and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
