I must tell this story. The Chambers Family all know me as C L Griffin, everyone had a nickname. When Elder Dr. Jonathan Chambers left Bunkie, LA., for Baton Rouge, I was about 6 or 7 years old. We lived in a community called the Burns. We all attended Little Rock Baptist Church, Elder Chambers and his family including his parents and siblings. He was a devoted friend of our family. I knew the man as Mr. Snook because that's what everyone in the community called him. My mother, Mrs. Ophelia Griffin had asthma really bad and often suffered vicious asthma attacks. My father, my brothers and I would stand in front of her and fan her to try and get her some air. When our efforts did not work, she would say, "Y'all better call Snook!" Someone would call Mr. Snook and his only response was, "Ok, I'm on my way." It could be 2, 3, or 4am. He never failed to come and take my mother to the doctor in Bunkie, 8 to 10 miles away. When he brought her back, asthma subsided; to this day he never asked for anything. My brothers and I often talk about this and the numerous times that Mr. Snook helped our family. He was a light on this earth way back then and continued to be salt of the earth throughout his life. We are thankful and grateful to God for having known him. He was a real blessing in our lives and is still an inspiration to us all. And again, he is on his way, this time to meet the King. On behalf of my brothers, Pastor Albert Griffin, Monrovia, CA, Pastor LeRoy D. Griffin (RET), James B. Griffin, Pasadena, CA, Huria Griffin, Jr., Port Arthur, TX and myself, Cleophas M. Griffin, Las Vegas, NV: To the family, we send our love and pray for God's Comfort, Strength and Peace. John 14:27
