Joseph Larriviere Sr. Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Holy Cross Catholic Church for Joseph "Joe" J. Larriviere, Sr., 85, who passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015, at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana. Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will take place in Fountain Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Joe, a resident of Lafayette LA, was the son of the late Andrew Larriviere and the former Lucille Bernard. He was veteran of the U.S. Army, member of Knights of Columbus and Scott Lions Club. He was the owner of Lafayette Iron Works, Ramp Lite Manufacturing, Southwest Scrap and Salvage, Inc., Ed Mac Mud Services and Closed Loop Systems. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and brother. His favorite hobbies were playing Dominos and Poker. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Jody Larriviere and Susan Lannan, Rick Larriviere and wife Claudia, Laurie Travasos and husband Kirk, Bruce Larriviere and wife Krista, special friend, Yvonne Arceaneaux, his brother-in-law, Darrell Broussard, his grandchildren, Nick Travasos, Greg Travasos, Natalie Travasos, Matthew Travasos, Dr. Joe Larriviere, Kimberly Larriviere, Taylor Larriviere, Ben Larriviere and Ashley Larriviere, six great grandchildren and his siblings, Sonny Larriviere, Alfred Larriviere, Odette Lagneaux, Ann Hoffpauir and Johnny Larriviere. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rita "Jerry" Broussard Larriviere and his sisters, Clara Thomas, Tookie Patin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive, on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Wednesday, July 22, 2015, from 8:00 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Nick Travasos, Greg Travasos, Matthew Travasos, Dr. Joe Larriviere, Taylor Larriviere and Ben Larriviere. Personal condolences may be sent to the Larriviere family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mr. Joe was such a sweet friend - a gentle soul. Played poker with him for many years - more recently in our Poker Club. He always had a smile, never leaving without taking our hands and kissing us bye. We will miss him tremendously!
