Leona Margaret Wilbert Major

Leona Margaret Wilbert Major was born December 16, 1927 in Plaquemine, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Rosedale, Louisiana. She died at her home on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 85 years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eric Major and by her parents, Andrew Moll Wilbert and Leona LeBlanc Wilbert. She is survived by her sons, Andrew Lionel Major and his wife Patricia Talbot Major and Charles Eric Major Jr. and his wife Ann Hubert Major; her sister, Gloria Wilbert Francise; her brother, Andrew Wilbert, Jr. and his wife Janet; her grandchildren, Tricia Major Hurdle and her husband Brady Hurdle, Andrew Lionel Major, Jr., John Eric Major, Katherine Major McLeod and her husband Edward McLeod, Carrie Major Barton and her husband Russell Barton, and Leigh Anne Major Wilbanks and her husband Jeffrey Wilbanks. She is survived by 8 great grandchildren. Margaret was a 1948 graduate of LSU with a degree in education and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. After moving to Rosedale, she devoted her life to her family and her community. She was also an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 76940 Gum Street, Grosse Tete, Louisiana on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Andrew Lionel Major Jr., John Eric Major, Brady Hurdle, Edward McLeod, Russell Barton Jeffrey Wilbanks and Lawrence Drew Wilbert. The family would like to recognize and give thanks to her wonderful caregivers for their loving and devoted care, especially Shirley and Gerald Dupont.
