Mark Sibley Obituary

Dr. Mark Henry Sibley passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 from colon cancer at the age of 54. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he graduated from Louisiana Tech University and LSU School of Dentistry. He was a general dentist until his retirement in 2002. He entered LSU Law School in 2003 where he was selected as Editor in Chief of the Louisiana Law Review. After completing law school he clerked for U.S. District Judge John V. Parker, and then Chief U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson. Mark had numerous hobbies and interests but especially loved fishing and fly fishing. Most of all, however, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Mark is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Lacour Sibley; two daughters, Haley Catherine Sibley and Hannah Lauren Sibley; mother, Eleanor Yeargan Sibley; brothers, Dr. Lonnie M. Sibley, Jr., and Dr. Randall D. Sibley; father-in-law, Dr. Lurry David Lacour, Jr. and his wife Shirley; brother-in-law, Lurry David Lacour III and his wife Darlene; five nieces; one nephew; and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Lonnie M. Sibley. A private memorial service was held Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Broadmoor Methodist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Resthaven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Please visit www.resthavenbatonrouge.com to sign the online guestbook.

We are so sorry to hear about Mark. Our prayers go out to him and his family. Mark was our family dentist before he had to change careers in mid life. I have always admired him for having done this. He will be greatly missed.
