Michell Sparks Obituary

SPARKS, MICHELL LEE "MEME" "God needed an angel in Heaven to stand at the Savior's feet. His choice must be the rarest, a lily, pure and sweet. He gazed upon the mighty throng, then stopped and picked the best. Our child was His chosen one. With Jesus she's now at rest." Author unknown. A resident of Port Allen, she died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, and was found murdered in Erwinville. She was 17. Memorial service at False River Baptist Church, Jarreau, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, conducted by Brother Larry Fetterolf. Michell graduated Sept. 18 from the Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge Program. She received numerous certificates for achievement and recognition. She had plans to join the National Guard and attend LSU. Michell was your average teen who absolutely loved life. She enjoyed writing poetry, art and running track and loved talking on the phone. A very dedicated and motivated young woman, Michell was on her pathway to pursuing her dreams. Her family and friends were a very important part of her life; they supported her every step of the way. Her sweet smile will be missed by all who knew her. We pray that her spirit will live on and that she is at peace with her Lord and Savior. She is survived by her father, Keith Sparks; mother, Retha Rena Hill; parent, friend and mentor, Wendy LeMay; sister, Angel Sparks; brother, Steven Sparks; grandmother, Maxine Sparks; grandfather, Jessie Sparks; great-grandmother, Eddis Lee Morgan; numerous uncles, including Kenny Hill and wife Amy, Jessie Hill and wife Milissa, Kenneth Sparks and Kevin Swilley; numerous aunts, including Angie Hill, Mary Bonnett and husband Scott and Betty Sparks; and numerous cousins and friends. Special thanks to her aunt, Kathy Garfield; grandma, Pam Ancelet Beatty; and T.J. LeMay. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Camilla Sparks; and grandfather, Albert Sparks. The family of Michell Sparks wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation for the many acts of kindness, love and devotion shown over the time of waiting, loss and sorrow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michell Sparks Memorial Fund at American Gateway Bank, Erwinville, (225) 627-4271. Niland's Funeral Service Inc., New Roads, is in charge of arrangements.

Dear Keith, Retha, and Wendy,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your lovely child. As a Mother I cannot even fathom how awful things must be for you right now. I know your anguish, waiting, and finally the news of what happened must be testing your strength and faith. As a Daughter I can tell you that she would want you to go on and to be strong for the other children in your lives.

Please know that we all share in your loss and grieve for what might have been. She will be missed by so many. But please take comfort by knowing that she is in heaven with God and now knows only his love and no earthly pain.

Sincerely,

Another Parent

I went to YCP with Michelle. She was my first roomate. Everyone loved her she was so nice to everyone. She was different than everyone else there, she was so innocent. I remember she had the cutest smile with two dimples. She was an amazing girl. Im so sorry for the family, but you were right when you said she left this earth happy, she had a "glow" to her that I will never forget. I will be there for the services Saturday and I will keep yalls family in my prayers.

I'll Be There

Momma please don't look so sad,

Momma please don't cry,

Cause I am in the arms of Jesus

and He sings me lullabies.

Please try not to question God,

Don't think He is unkind.

Don't think He sent me to you,

And then He changed His mind.

You see, I am a Special Child,

And I am needed up above,

I'm the special gift you gave Him,

The product of your love.

I'll always be there with you,

And watch the sky at night

Find the brightest star that's gleaming,

That's my halo's brilliant light

You'll see me in the morning frost,

That mists your windowpane.

That's me, in the summer showers,

I'll be dancing in the rain.

When you feel a gentle breeze,

From a gentle wind that blows,

That's me; I'll be there, planting a kiss on your nose.

When you see a child playing,

And your heart feels a little tug,

That's me; I'll be there, giving your heart a hug.

So, momma, please don't look so sad,

Mommy don't you cry.

I'm in the arms of Jesus,

And He sings me lullabies
