Nova Burris Obituary

Burris, Nova Lee Smith Nova Lee Smith Burris, 93, passed away Friday, April 20, 2007. She was a resident of St. Clare Manor Nursing Home. Nova was born in McCall Creek, Miss., and was a longtime resident. She was a faithful member of McCall Creek Baptist Church until her move to Baton Rouge in 2001. God did place an angel here on this earth, and He did so in the form of Nova Burris. She loved, she cared, she smiled, she trusted and always said thank you to everyone. We will miss her but we will rejoice knowing, she is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Husband, Hardy H. Burris, precedes her in death. Survived by three daughters, Nelda Beam and spouse Carey of Baton Rouge, Toba D'Amico and spouse Michael of West Paterson, N.J., and Robin Thomas of Madison, Miss; four grandchildren, Michael J. D'Amico, Cyrus "Cy" C. Beam Jr., Rebecca Beam Bailey and Victoria Anne Thomas. Nova also had six great-grandchildren. Brookhaven Funeral Home, Brookhaven, Miss., is in charge of funeral arrangements. Visitation for family and friends will be at McCall Creek Baptist Church, McCall Creek, on Monday, April 23, from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. Harold Anderson. Interment will follow at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery, Lucien, Miss., Franklin County. Pallbearers will be Cy Beam, Barrett Beam, Jimmy Burris, Danny Smith, Mike Porter and Elzie Chance. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Joseph Hospice Foundation, 8923 Bluebonnet Blvd., Baton Rouge LA 70810, Alzheimer Services of the Capital Area, 3772 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70816, or McCall Creek Baptist Church, C/O Tama Chance, 602 Quail Run Drive, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
