Owen Philip Tabor

Owen Philip Tabor, 15, went home to our Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2023, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Owen was born at Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge on May 14, 2007, to Jordan and Lisa (Capuano) Tabor. He was a sophomore at St. Michael the Archangel High School and a graduate of St. Jean Vianney Catholic School. He was a starting tight end for the SMHS varsity football team and a member of the Powerlifting team. Owen spent many years playing travel baseball for the Lugnuts team and continued with SMHS freshman baseball before he decided to dedicate his time to football. He loved working as a server at Parc 73 and in concessions at LSU home baseball games. Owen was the boy every parent prayed for. He loved life, fun, friends, football and his family. He loved working out and would celebrate every pound of muscle he gained. It was well known throughout our family that every life lesson he ever learned had come from The Office television show. Owen loved his friends and St Michael's football with an incredible intensity. He could drive his family crazy with his stories of their experiences and ideas. Hopefully, the fort building will continue. He got great pleasure spending time with his brother, Reed, whether it was wrestling, playing games or just annoying each other. Owen adored his cousins and didn't see the point of going out to eat if they weren't going together. They would have a limit of about a week and a half before they just had to see each other. Owen shared an intense passion for Tulane football with his dad, Jordan. They loved their time together cheering on the Green Wave, a great tradition of Tabor men that was started by Owen's grandfather, Donald Tabor. Owen's heart and soul belonged to his mom, Lisa. Their bond is indescribable and can transcend death. She will always be his biggest fan, most fierce advocate and love of his life. Owen was preceded in death by his grandmother, Linda Capuano; grandfather, Donald Tabor; uncle, Craig Tabor; great-grandparents, Louis and Jeanette Capuano, Elbert and Catherine Kostmayer, Bernadine Kostmayer, Carlton Morris and Mabel Morris. Owen is survived by his parents; his brother, Reed; his grandfather, Louis Capuano Jr.; grandmother, Jenna Vee Tabor; godfather, Mitch Tabor and godmother, Dawn Brumfield. Owen was greatly loved by his aunts and uncles, Charles Brumfield, Christie and Carlos Lepe, Louie and Jennifer Capuano and Kelli Ulmer. He will always be adored by his cousins who are more like siblings, Victoria Tabor, Chad, Caitie and Lizzie Brumfield, Michaela Capuano and Eli Lepe. He will always be a third of the Tripods along with his best friends Grayson Boudreaux and Meyer Dumas. Owen will always live on through the many family and friends who couldn't help but be sucked in by his mischievous smile and magnetic personality. The family would like to thank Caitie Brumfield and Neal and Michelle Zeber, Scott and Carrie Broussard, the best neighbors anyone could ask for. Also, Anitra Boiteaux, the St Michael's school coaches and community, St. Jean Vianney and Cypress Heights communities, East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Services and Our Lady of the Lake Children's Trauma Center. Thank you for all of your prayers and love which are carrying our family through this devastating time. A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday, May 4 from 6-9 pm. Visitation will continue Friday morning at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church from 10:30-11:30 am with a funeral mass being held at 11:30 am officiated by Fr. Tom Ranzino. A reception will follow. A private burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery on Saturday morning.
