Paul Harbour Obituary

Paul A. Harbour, 81, of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023 after a long struggle with illness. Paul was born on November 23, 1941 to Gus and Lillian Harbour in New Orleans, LA. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beatrice Harbour and their four children, Paul David, Kristen Elizabeth, Anna Marie, and Erin Victoria (Harbour Staack). His life was dedicated to his family and public service. Paul served as Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps before joining the New Orleans Police Department. In 1971 he became a U.S. Federal Deputy Marshal until his retirement at the age of 65. A great storyteller with charming wit and humor. An animal lover and devoted LSU football fan. His humor always showed up for us. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).

I am a distant relative of Paul´s, probably through my maternal grandmother Clemie Harbour Linder Hogan. I would guess an Aunt to Paul. I have in my possession a baby picture of Paul, sent to my great grandmother in Hanford CA from Louisiana in 1941. If anyone can contact me, I´d be willing to ship this family heirloom to its proper home. Sincerely, Thomas M Gross Santa Cruz CA (PS) "So sorry for your loss"

I am saddened beyond words to hear of Mr. Paul's passing. My heartfelt condolences to Ms. Bea, David, Kristen, Anna Marie, and Erin. The good times, good company, and good food I enjoyed so many times in your home are some of my best memories of growing up across the street from you. Apart from blood relatives and my scoutmaster, Mr. Paul was probably the most influential positive male role model in my young life. I always saw him as a rough and tough giant with a savagely sarcastic wit, who took down criminals to keep us safe- yet was so generous and kind that if David wasn't home he would throw a football with me himself, or (years later!) have a Heineken with me himself.... I feel privileged to have known him, and I will certainly never forget him as long as I live. I hope knowing that- knowing what a positive effect Mr. Paul had on other people's lives- is of some small comfort to you in your grief.
