Rachel Johnson Obituary

Rachel Parker Johnson died peacefully Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She was 90 years old. Rachel was a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Johnson, her parents, Alsey Clements and Bertha Parker, her sister, Marion Summerville and brother, Alsey Clements Parker. She is survived by her son, Richard Clements Johnson, daughters Libby and husband, Don Sievertson and Carol Johnson, four grandchildren, Bryan Cooper and his wife Karrie, Joshua Cooper and his wife Jamie, Jason and Courtney Sievertson and five great grandchildren, Justin, Eric, Taylor, Jake Cooper and Benjamin Graham and his wife Hallie. Rachel was a member of University Methodist Church and the Volunteers of America. Rachel graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in Bacteriology. She loved to play bridge, travel, and Alabama football. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Baton Rouge Hospice, 3600 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA, 70806, Brookdale Hospice, 555 Post Oak Blvd, Suite 500, Houston, TX 77027 or to the Alsey Clements Parker Endowed Engineering Scholarship Fund, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487 Rachel was a blessing to her family and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held in the near future.
