Ramona Carpenter

Ramona Carpenter, aged 54 died on June 11th, 2016 as a result of complications from a glioblastoma brain tumor. Born on August 8, 1961 in Port Arthur Texas, Mona grew up in Patterson, Louisiana. Mona became a consummate Physical Therapy Assistant after graduating from Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge. She worked for several clinics in the Baton Rouge area, but began her career at the Baton Rouge General Mid City Clinic where she forged so many of her life-long friends and colleagues. Mona embraced life and stared down its obstacles including epilepsy, cervical and ovarian cancer. Whether parasailing over the ocean or hurtling down a zip line, or just lovingly toiling in her yard and garden, she loved her life with her husband, Rob Carpenter and her dogs, Jaddo, Buckley, Emma, and Pico. She leaves behind her husband Rob, many, many friends from her professional life, her church, her beloved neighbors, her mother, Lola Rivera, her sister, Rebecca Adams, her brother, Aaron Brown and their families. A jazz memorial service honoring her life will be held at University Methodist Church in Baton Rouge on Saturday, July 9th, at 11:00 a.m. A second tree planting memorial party will be held next fall at her home.
