Robert Neil Loupe 78, a lifelong resident of New Roads, LA passed away at his home surrounded by his family at 9:30am on Saturday August 24, 2013. He was a retired educator with the Pointe Coupee Parish School System where he faithfully served for 37 years. He also worked as a Certified Real Estate Appraiser starting in the early 1980's until he retired in 2008. Robert was a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph Academy. He graduated from LSU in 1958 with a Bachelors degree in Education and again in 1964 with a Masters degree plus 79 Hours. Robert was a member of the organizational board of the Louisiana Association of Special Education Administration; he served two terms as a member of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Association of School executives and past president of the Pointe Coupee Chapter of the Louisiana Teachers' Association. He was the president of the Pointe Coupee LSU Alumni chapter, past coach of American Legion and Babe Ruth youth baseball programs, he served two years as the district chairman for the tri parish area of the Istrouma Area council of the Boy Scouts of America and he was a past president of the New Roads Lions Club. He reigned as King of the Lions' parish Mardi Gras parade in 1975. He also served as vice-president, secretary, treasurer and three years as a board member of the Lions Club. Visitation will be on Monday August 26, 2013 at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church, New Roads from 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will follow in False River Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Lillian Landry Loupe daughter of the late Edmond and Melanie Landry; one son Brent Loupe and Wife Jennifer Weigand Loupe; two daughters Robyn Loupe Heap and husband Casey Heap and Lisa Loupe D'Aquila and husband Paul D'Aquila; grandchildren Erin Huffaker, Logan Huffaker, Sydney Loupe, Chandler Loupe, Trevor Heap, Peyton Heap and Joshua Heap; three sisters Viola Laporte and husband Al Laporte, Barbara Laurent and husband Jerry Laurent and Mary Lynn Amond and husband Wesley Amond and two brothers Dr. Jack F Loupe and wife Gail Loupe and Dr. John F Loupe and wife Joel Loupe. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph "Jack" Loupe, mother Viola Dabadie Loupe, brother Joseph Loupe and son in law David Huffaker. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Wanda St. Cyr, Curnell Jackson, Betty St. Cyr, Muriel "Sal" Ruffin and Herman Jack.
