Robert Seals Obituary

Robert A. "Bob" Seals Sr., age 95, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on February 11th, 2022. He slipped away peacefully under the care of the Hospice of Baton Rouge, cherished family, and devoted caregivers. Thanks Lord for your amazing grace in bringing Dad home! Born October 12, 1926 in Oakdale, LA to James Ivy and Eunice C Seals, Bob was raised by his mother, Eunice C (Seals) Bush, and grandmother, Jennie Carroll, in Baton Rouge LA. He loved to spend summers with his dad in Jena, LA where he developed a life-long love for fishing. A graduate of Baton Rouge High, Class of 1943, Bob attended LSU before enlisting at age 17 into the United States Marine Corp. He served in the Pacific from 1943-1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in service to the country he loved. Upon returning from the WWII, Bob met his future bride, Florida "Marie" Carroll, and they married on August 19, 1950 at First United Methodist Church. They had three children, Jennie C Seals (1952), Robert A Seals Jr (1955), and J. Michael Seals (1960). Bob and Marie were active members of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. He worked for finance companies, Home Finance, and Central Credit before joining the banking business with Capital Bank, and Union Planters Bank. Bob was an active member and served as President of Sherwood Forest Country Club where he loved to play golf with friends and family. He was honored to be a member of the Hole In One club. Bob loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his bride Marie, daughter Jennie, sons, Robert Jr and Mike, his six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and treasured family of brothers and sisters in law, nieces, and nephews including their respective families. Bob was an avid fisherman, especially at his camp on Black River Lake with brother-in-law, Eddie J Wren Jr, and the rest of the family. Memories were made catching loads of fish, which seemed to get bigger with every fishing story told. He fondly recalled attending every Pistol Pete Maravich basketball game with his children. He loved to encourage people God placed in his life, dancing with bride Marie, oatmeal in the morning and root beer floats in the afternoon. In his early years, he was a devoted Toddle House patron for their chocolate and coconut cream pies and Hoppers Drive Inn for their nectar sodas. The family extends thanks to Dad's many caregivers and the Hospice of Baton Rouge who treated him with love, honor, and respect during his final years. Bob's parting words from his heart to yours…"Do what's right and do what's good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person." As God's word encourages us in Ephesians 4:32 - "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ Jesus." A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 5, with visitation at 10:00 am, Memorial Service at 11:00 am, and a reception following on the church grounds. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to the Wounded Warriors, Hospice of Baton Rouge, or the Broadmoor United Methodist Church.

Robert and Family,
I'm very sorry for your loss. I was blessed to have Mr. Bob as a mentor and supervisor at Capital Bank back in the early 80's. He was a friend and one of the nicest people that I have known. Take care and God bless! Jim Garmon, Tyler, Tx

My deepest sympathy to Jennie, Robert and the rest of the Seals family. It was a looong time ago but we used to be friends and neighbors. So many good memories of our childhood days playing ball in the empty lots! May God give you His grace and peace as you mourn.
