Ronald Rogers Obituary

Ronald Wesley Rogers, "Wes", passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, causing great sorrow and loss to his family and friends, most especially to his precious children, Kathryn, Madison, Lauren, Jacob, and Camille. Wes loved being their Daddy. Wes was a helpful, friendly, young man who loved all things Ford, fishing, hunting, hiking, and practical jokes. He was a skilled machinist at Exxon Mobil who was respected by his peers. Wes' friends learned quickly that if it was broken, Wes could fix it and was happy to do it. Wes is survived by his five children; his parents, William and Mary Rogers; his sisters, Annette Nicosia and husband, Kevin, and Donna Alexander and husband, Jason; his grandmother, Lottie Engels; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be observed on Friday, November 13, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd., from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 10:00 AM, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Dear Family,

It's had to believe he's gone. He was deeply loved and will be missed. But it's only for a short time, in light of eternity. God's Word assures us that we will be reunited with all others who believe in Jesus as their Savior and Lord. And our reunion will not be for 42 or a thousand years, but for eternity ! For now it hurts, but take heart !

I went into my workshop this evening to find a book Wesley gave me years ago. It is a textbook on machine shop processes, signed by him on the inside cover. I will treasure that gift from a great guy with a heart of love.

Our prayers go out to the whole family.

Love in Jesus our King,
ron and Linda

To Wesley's family, I am a '91 RHS classmate of Welsey. My heart aches for his family during this difficult time. Only after reading his obituary did I learn he is my 3rd cousin, I am still in shock. We went to school all those years not knowing this. He is related to me on the Marionneaux side. Myrtis Marionneaux was my grandmother's sister, Janice. After talking to my dad, Dewey "Butch" Callegan did I learn Lottie and Burt kept in touch with him and my mom, Veronica Hymel. When we were in Sr year we had secret santa and Wesley gave me some white doves. Every year at Christmas when I take them out I think of him. It will be an extra special memory from now on knowing he is my cousin.

Our thoughts, our prayers and our hearts go out to all who loved Wes. He and my husband, Tony, became friends years ago at BR Vo-Tech and have always called on each other for assistance with many of their mechanical endeavors, any other chore that required two, or just to sit and talk. Tony is truly honored to be a pallbearer but of course, wishes instead that he still had his friend. We will forever miss and think of Wes often....

Wes could surely fix a lot, and I recall one particular story where my son Luke was given the task in high school to construct a soda bottle water boat of his design but the one that went the farthest would be given additional credit. We worked and remade many designs and finally Luke said " Can you call Mr Wes ? He can help me make the best one." I called and Wes was more than up to the science and engineering challenge to help Luke construct his boat that was not only successful and propelled the farthest but their design was used as a model for other classes. I'm not sure who was more proud of their accomplishment Luke or Wes but Wes eagerly awaited the call when school was out for the day to see how Luke did. Wes will surely be missed by many but the impact he has made will last. My prayers to all who loved him.

I'm still struggling dealing with the realization that you're gone. We had our ups and downs, but you taught me a lot, and you'll truly be missed. I shared an office and workspace with you for years. Fly high, bro. No more pain.... D. Major, XOM
