Roy Regan, M.D. Obituary

Roy A. Regan, M.D., born on July 31, 1929, passed away on December 15, 2015, at the age of 86. Dr. Regan was a retired U.S. Navy Commander who served on the USS Yellowstone and then in the Navy Reserve. He was also a member of the Masons at the St. James Lodge, as well as the Past Chief of Staff at Baton Rouge General, and served on staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. In addition, he served on the Governor's Task Force for Environmental Health under Governor David Treen. He was a forty-year member of the First United Methodist Church choir, served on the BR Symphony Board, member of the Baton Rouge Garden Club and the Choral Society, and a founding member of the Foster Drive YMCA. He was an active athlete, participating in racquet ball, running, and skiing. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Delaine "June" Regan, son Keith Regan, his daughter, Kay Landry and husband Greg, his two cherished grandchildren, Ainsley Regan and Laird Regan, as well as his sister-in-law, Mary Regan. He is preceded in death by his parents, James B. and Lydia L. Regan, sister, Neva Taylor, and brothers, Russell, Harry, Don, and Dave Regan. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, December 18, 2015, at 10:00 am with a funeral service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. After battling Alzheimer's for many years, the family would like to extend a thank you to his caregivers, Diana, Lenitra, Melanie, Alice, Angela, Harriet, Ernestine, Myonne, and Delores, as well as the staff at Ollie Steele Burden Unit 3, The Carpenter House, and special thanks to Gary at Seniors Helping Seniors. The family would also like to give a special thanks to his friends and neighbors in the subdivision. Special honors to Dr. Van Bibb Saye, Dr. Heck Olinde, and Carl Lowe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Hospice, First United Methodist Church, and to Ollie Steele Burden Manor.
