Ruby Clara Callegan Leonard

Ruby passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center on the day after her 93rd birthday. She was a native and resident of White Castle. Ruby was a homemaker who raised 4 children. Visiting will be at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in White Castle on Thursday, September 28th from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Paul Yi. Burial to follow in the White Castle Cemetery. Ruby is survived by her children, Brenda Leonard Zito of Plaquemine, Barry Joseph Leonard and wife Beverly Richard Leonard of Baton Rouge, and Cheryl Leonard Foose and husband Marshall of Donaldsonville; 4 grandchildren, Jaymee Ourso Burleigh and husband Steven, Courtney Zito Elliott and husband Ryan, Alisha Leonard and wife Summer, Joey Leonard and wife Brittany; 6 great grandchildren, Bailey and Aimee Burleigh, Reid and Demi Kate Leonard, Sara Ryan and Michael Elliott; only surviving relative on the Callegan side, a nephew, Steffan Callegan. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Perkins G. Leonard; infant son, Wayne "Butch" Leonard; grandson, Blake Michael Benoit; sibling, Lloyd Callagen and Leon Callegan. Pallbearers will be Steven Burleigh, Ryan Elliott, Steffan Callegan, Ron Sanchez, Joey Leonard. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephanie Hymel LeBlanc and Kim LeBlanc, who were her neighbors and close friends.
