To have attended a Spring Luncheon in Shaban´s beautiful home recently spoke so tenderly to my heart on how his life lives on in the hearts of those he touched w his life. Being of another faith denomination I could not help but "feel" profoundly how much of our human experience unites us. Every life , every story, every expression of Shaban´s culture was so beautifully & exquisitely expressed at that lovely luncheon. Not only was I was honored to be invited there but I also feel honored now to be able to write these few words here. None of it would have ever happened had there not been a Shaban or his beloved Shaista. Blessings to their beautiful family.

This commemorative moment and tribute to a life well lived is very moving and very appreciated. The love of Shaban's family keeps the memory of his life and the flame of His soul everpresent. Love really is eternal. And there is no doubt that Shaban was truly loved. Thank you for giving us this moment to pause and remember what truly matters. Blessings to Shaban & His Family.

On this day of the first Anniversary of Dr. Shaban Faruqui's passing, I am remembering an outstanding Gastroenterology Physician who took great care of my late husband, Lt. Colonel Roosevelt Peters, for 29 years. I pass by Dr. Shaban's place at the Baton Rouge Clinic weekly traveling on Perkins Road to see my doctor and I re-live our trips to Dr. Shaban and oh how I miss him. He and Dr. Shaista Faruqui took great care of Roosevelt and both were so loving, kind, compassionate, professional, and a cool dude! Memories of Dr. Shaban will be cherished forever in my heart. Dr. Shaista may God Bless you, your daughters, family, patients, and friends with peace, joy, love and gratitude in your hearts for having been blessed to have Dr. Shaban in your lives. He is sorely missed.

Dr. Faruqui was a wonderful doctor. I just learned of his passing via the newspaper. He was my doctor in 2011-2012 at the Digestive and Liver Disease Clinic in Baton Rouge and again in 2019-2020 at St. Francis Gastroenterology in St. Francisville. He was so kind to me, and I remembered how he helped me through my ulcers in 2012 so I contacted him again last year. The last time I saw him was February 19 for a scope. I’m so sorry. He is greatly missed by many. I want to do something for the family. I will be in touch.

From the first moment that Sofia and I met Sabeens parents they were gracious to us and welcomed us openly into their family. Shaban always engaged us in conversation when we got together with Gleb, Sabeen and family whether in Baton Rouge, New Orleans or Chicago. He was a very successful physician, husband and father and he will be missed at future family gatherings.

Shaban Bhai was a favorite of ours. He was a very handsome, caring, loving and witty person. A complete person in every respect. He and his wife had always been high achievers and they both excelled in their respective fields. He was the pride of the family. Their children are now carrying the torch. We have always adored them all.

Shaban was a major part of our lives. Him, my cousin Zubair, my elder brother Amjad and I were a unit in our youth. We used to play cricket outside Shabans house with all the neighbourhood boys on every weekend. Shaban was the leader of our little group since he was a few years older than us.
His house was on Jamshed Road while mine was barely 1 mile away in New Town. Every Friday, Shaban would come to our house before prayers and we would go to the mosque together, he would then come to our house for lunch before going home. This remained his routine for many years.
Shaban had always been very close to my mother. Having lost his own mother at a young age he used to say his mother and mine had similar habits and features. My mother was also very fond of him and treated him like her own son as well. This meant that he was a regular feature at our house for most of my childhood.
In later years, when Shaban was in Medical School, he formed a close friendship with my eldest brother in law, Arif Bhai.
As such, I developed a close connection with him in my teenage years and the three of us became inseparable till he left for America for higher studies.
Shaban was a big part of my childhood and I remember every instance of it fondly.
I was fortunate to have reconnected with him and Shaista bhabi over the past 7 years. Together, they made a lovely, warm and welcoming couple and we formed a solid relationship with them.
I will forever cherish all our memories we had together.
It was a pleasure and our good fortune to have known a true and sincere gentleman such as him.

We met Dr. Shaban and Dr. Shaista , when we moved to Baton Rouge for a year and they became our family. He become someone who I looked for advice after I lost my father. We made a family tradition to meet and spend time together every time they came to Chicago. He is an example of a best husband and a father for every man to follow. I am lost of words and our deepest condolences to Dr Shaista. May Allah grant him the highest place in heaven... HE WILL STAY WITH US FOREVER...

What a special Doctor! Enjoyed working with him and his wife, at Baton Rouge General, both as a nurse and on the oncology floor as a case manager. Great disposition with all he encountered. Great hostesses as well, when he and his wife treated the oncology floor in their lovely home on one occasion, when I still worked there. So sorry for your loss. Shaban, youngest of four remarkable brothers, my childhood mates, was a darling of the family. His pleasing smile and giggles are unforgettable. Much younger than myself, I deeply regret for not remaining in touch with him through adult life. But I knew of his exemplary success in profession, ingrained sweetness and clean Life journey and it made me proud of. Too late now, I shall miss him but know he is in better place, sweet little prince, Shaban. Tarique

It would be difficult to imagine a more loyal and steadfast friend, or a more caring and dedicated physician, than Shaban. We were friends for over 40 years during which he was also my gastro. He had a quick wit and a calming demeanor when dealing with me as a patient. Shaban (and his wonderful wife Shaista) both went out of their way to help and counsel my two sons during their pre-med college experience. Both are now physicians in New Orleans. His generosity in allowing each to shadow him for a complete summer while they applied for medical school had an immeasurable effect on both of my sons. For that we will always be grateful. I still cant believe he is goneand I will miss him for a long long time.
