Troy "Sonny" Cothren Jr.

Troy "Sonny" Cothren, Jr., 76, a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of St. Francisville, died on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 of a massive stroke. He was retired, after working for Exxon Mobil for over 36 years. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 9am until 11am funeral, conducted by Pastor Ashley McGuire and Elder David Cothren, with music by Doctor Kevin Hand. Burial will be at Greensburg Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Kelly Cothren; three sons, David Allen Cothren of St. Francisville, Darren Troy Cothren of Baton Rouge, and Kyle Dallas Cothren of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; one sister, Marvel Cothren Johnson of Jackson, LA; one brother, Larry Cothren and his wife Betty of Baton Rouge; two granddaughters, Amanda Kelly Cothren; and Kayla Cothren Olson and her husband Stephen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Vertie Cothren Sr.; brother Gerald Cothren; three sisters: Bonnie Cothren Kelleher, Clarice Cothren Posey, and Doy Ann Cothren Van Norman Manchester. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He liked bluegrass gospel music. The family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of the Lake SICU for their care. They would also like to thank their extended family and friends for their prayers, support, and compassion throughout this difficult time.
