Virginia Dupuy Obituary

Virginia Rhorer Dupuy died in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. She was born on September 3, 1924 in Plaquemine. Virginia graduated from St. John's High School in Plaquemine. She received a B.A. in Education from LSU in 1945. While at LSU she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. After retiring from a professional career with the Internal Revenue Service in New Orleans, Virginia worked with the New Orleans Museum of Art as administrative assistant to the director. After retiring from NOMA, she became an active volunteer with the Museum, receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1985. Beloved sister of brothers John W. Dupuy of Metairie, James R. Dupuy (Mary) of Conroe, Texas, sister Cecelia Dupuy Mooney (James) of Davie, Florida, and sister-in-law Brenda W. Dupuy of New Orleans, LA. Beloved aunt of nieces Emily (Alex Escalada) Mooney, Virginia (Cliff) Moskowitz, Elizabeth (Glen) Lubel, Leslie Dupuy, and nephews, Thomas (Gilda) Mooney and George (Bridget) Dupuy, great nephews, Jacob and Dylan Moskowitz, James Francis Mooney, and great niece, Mary Devon Dupuy. Preceded in death by parents, Colquitt Omer Dupuy and Cecelia Virginia Rhorer, brothers E. Larry Dupuy, Colquitt O. Dupuy, and sisters Constance Dupuy Davis, and Mary Edith Dupuy. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the New Orleans Museum of Art or Catholic Relief Services. To view and sign the guest book, visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
