Wayne Dale Dyer Sr.

1957 - 2024

Wayne Dale Dyer, Sr. was born on July 2, 1957 to the union of Dorothy Bennett-Dyer and Cleveland Dyer, Sr. Wayne departed this life on October 2, 2024 in Zachary, LA at the age of 67. He graduated from Chaneyville High School in 1975. After graduating, he attended Southern University before joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 995. Wayne is well-known as a talented electrician who always exhibited pride in his skills and his work. Wayne had the most sociable personality making him a friend to many. He always had a positive outlook on life and will be truly missed. Wayne leaves to cherish his memories his son, Wayne D. Dyer, Jr.; his daughters, Jasmyn Watson (Lamar), Pamela Stevenson, Aliyah Dyer, Statuequa "Tiki" Franklin, and Arlesia Sumpton; bonus children he loved as his own, Otisha Reed, Jermiah Bessie, Timothy Bessie, Chance Bessie, Dorian Bessie; twin sister, Wanda Dyer; sisters, Linda Stone (Larry), Joyce Davis (McKinley), Alzaddie Spann; brother, Larry Spann; aunts, Sarah Davis Bilies, Mabel Bennett Burks, and Ruthie Mae Bennett; uncle, John T Bennett; his "favorite niece," Juanna Knighten; special cousins, Juanita Sanford, D'Marcus Barber, and Melvin Spann; friend and schoolmate, Gail Watkins; longtime partner, Virginia Bessie; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Cleveland "Taddy" Dyer; his mother, Dorothy B. Dyer-Spann; his bonus father, Cleveland Spann, Jr.; his brothers, Cleveland Dyer, Jr. and William Dyer; his granddaughter, Aria Watson; maternal grandparents, Lou Ida "Mama Coot" Davis and Albert Bennett, Jr.; and paternal grandparents, William Dyer and Azlea Tate-Dyer. Memorial services were held Friday, October 11, 2024 11:00 a.m. Visitation preceded the funeral service that started at 9 a.m. Funeral services were held at Greater Philadelphia Baptist Church 24497 Cook Road Slaughter, Louisiana 70777 Bishop Winton R. Anderson.
