Lisa Dawn Reese

1965 - 2024

Lisa Dawn Reese was born to Kevin and Yvonne Reese in November of 1965 in San Diego, California. She grew up in Spring Valley, Lakeside, and Alpine. Lisa loved animals and got her first horses when she was a young teen living in Lakeside off Cerro De Paz. She would ride her horse bareback all over town from sunup to sundown. We even heard stories of her riding her horse through Lindo Lake. She began barrel racing with Gymkhana at the Lakeside Rodeo with her sister Robin; together, they won many ribbons. Lisa was asked to join the circuit, but Mom and Dad thought she was too young for that. After a couple of years, they moved up to Alpine. Lisa met Howard, and they had 3 children together: Amanda, Tiffany, and Dakota. Lisa moved to Nashville, Tennessee, with her Benoit family for a little while, where she worked cleaning houses. Here she developed a love for watching football, Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers. When she returned to San Diego, she stayed in an apartment next door to her grown daughter Amanda. During this time, Lisa volunteered to coach her daughter Tiffany in POP Warner Cheer and then to high school cheer; this was a wonderful time in her life. Around this time she met Bern, and they would spend the next 20 or so years together living life and raising the kids up into wonderful adults. She and Bern enjoyed being a part of the Boy Scouts with her son Dakota. When her sister Crystyll passed in 2011 she wholeheartedly took on the role of helping to raise Crystyll's young daughter Maddy. She had known Crystyll had wanted Maddy to go to school in Alpine, so she made that happen. She was an avid supporter of our rights and freedoms and attended many rally's. Through all the years she has cared for many animals, dogs, cats, fish, chickens, turkeys, guinea hens, and horses. She always said she should have gone to veterinary school. She was always the one to call when you needed help, whether it was docking puppy tails or worming and vaccinating dogs or horses, removing a snake from your yard, or taking out a rattler! She was fearless and genuine and would do whatever she could to help. She got to teach all her grandchildren about hatching chickens, bugs, and tarantula catching. Lisa enjoyed sharing her love of animals with all the grandkids and their friends, teaching them to ride and love and care for them like she did. She recently got certified to join the Humane Society Animal Emergency Response Team, she was so proud! In 2021, Lisa met Rick, and they spent the last few years together enjoying life with each other. Lisa was so in love; together, they had many big plans for their future. Lisa enjoyed attending Rick's races and the Barona Speedway and making memories together. They went to many high school football games watching the kids play. Their time was short but special. Lisa was as genuine as they come and she leaves behind a legacy of love and respect for all.
Lisa is preceded in death by her mother, Yvonne, her sister, Crystyll, and her granddaughter, Irene Grace.
She is survived by her father, Kevin, sister, Robin, her children, Amanda, Tiffany, Dakota, and Madalynn, her nephews, Davy and Mario, and her niece, Kendra. Her Grandchildren, Markie, Isaac, Kevin, Emilyn, Ivaan, Eliana, and Paysen, her great-nephew Carson, great-nieces Willow and Brylee, as well as many other loved ones and friends who were lucky enough to have known her.
Services will be July 25th, 2024 9:00am at Sonrise Church, 8805 N. Magnolia Ave, El Cajon CA 92071, Burial Service at 10:30am at Singing Hills Cemetery, 2800 Dahesa Rd, El Cajon CA 92019. Celebration of life 5:00pm, 855 Pepper Drive, El Cajon CA 92021
