James Horton Obituary

James D. Horton, 81, passed from this life surrounded by family at his Antlers home on October 8, 2022. He was born to Burrell L. and Ellen Faye (Thomas) Horton on October 9, 1940 in Darwin. James married Raymunda Cano on September 27, 1969 in El Paso, TX, and together they raised a loving family and enjoyed 53 years of marriage. He earned his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, and followed that love of the law to a career as a correctional case manager at McCloud Correctional Facility until his retirement. James was a member of the Antlers Masonic Lodge #39 for 35 years and went through many offices from Sr. Steward to 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. He was very passionate about his role in the Masonic fraternity. James was preceded in death by his parents: Burrell and Ellen Horton. He is survived by his loving wife: Raymunda Cano Horton; Children: Anabell Diaz and husband Roberto of Greensboro, NC, Bruce Horton and wife Christy of Antlers, OK, and Leticia Graves of Kernersville, NC; sister: Francine Neeley of Paris, TX; grandchildren: Hailey Diaz, Hannah Diaz, Stephen Graves, Savannah Horton; and god-daughter: Katie Paredes; along with numerous other relatives and friends. Services for James will take place 10 AM Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Antlers Masonic Lodge with Reverend Aaron Reed and Blaine McKnight officiating. Internment to follow at Antlers City Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in James' name to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers, Oklahoma.
