George Stewart Obituary

George "Brian" Stewart, 62, of Appling, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on May 17, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Brian was born on September 27, 1962, in Augusta, Georgia and resided in Georgia for most of his life.

Brian was a dedicated and hardworking man. In his younger years, he worked as a plumber before beginning his long and successful career in the automotive industry. In 1991 – he began working at E Ga Motors in Waynesboro, Georgia. After approximately six months, he received a call from Bobby Jones and joined their team where he stayed until 2008. In 2008 he started his own business at Southeastern Auto Sales.

In 2011, Brian was asked to join the Fairway Ford team as their Fleet Manager, a position he proudly held. In March of 2023, Fairway Ford was purchased by Gerald Jones, and he became an employee with them, working faithfully until his final days.

Brian sold Ford cars for 34 years, building strong relationships and a respected reputation in the industry and in his everyday life.

Outside of work, Brian was passionate about racing. He loved the thrill of the track and spending more time around cars. He loved watching all his favorite racers participate on the dirt track around the country in the Dirt Late Model series. He had all the sports tv apps downloaded and would watch faithfully anytime one of these races came on. Most Saturday nights you would find him in front of his tv watching these races and often flipping between one race to another so he could see all his favorite drivers compete.

Brian will be remembered for his dedication, his deep love for his family and friends, his funny sarcasm, and his enthusiasm for anything with an engine, especially dirt late models.

Brian was also a "Papa" to his two granddaughters, Rynlee and Harper whom he adored so much, and they adored him as well.

Brian is preceded in passing by his parents, Andrew and Eleanor Stewart, his brother, Donnie Dent, and his sister, Brenda Humphries.

Brian is survived by his spouse, Marie Stewart, his daughter, Carolyn "Carlee" Leitner (Austin), his son, Andrew Brian L. Stewart (Riley), his sisters, Gaile Spoto (Jim), Robin Chavous (Wendy), Lisa Steinmeyer (the late, Wesley Sr.), and his brother, Andrew Stewart (Wanda). Brian is also survived by his grandchildren, Rynlee and Harper Leitner, and many nieces and nephews.
