George Taylor Obituary

George Cullen Taylor, Jr. age 78 passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Doctor's Hospital of Augusta after an extended illness. George was born in Augusta, Georgia on September 28, 1944, and was the son of the late Elizabeth Rebecca Taylor and the late George Cullen Taylor, Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Cox, and his beloved furry canine companions, Hannah, and Megan. He was an electrician by trade and a longtime member of IBEW Local 1579. George lived in Lincolnton for many years before moving to Martinez a few years ago. He could often be found hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and watching Dallas Cowboys football or NASCAR. George rarely met a stranger and loved to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He is survived by his longtime companion, Betty Cole, and his son, Cullen (Lori) Taylor; granddaughter, Rebecca (Austin) Lynn and two great-granddaughters.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road, Martinez, GA at 10:00 AM. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM immediately following visitation, with burial to follow at Westover Memorial Park, Augusta, GA.
