Jackson, SC – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Johnny Syms, aged 56, who entered into rest on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor Donald Shires officiating.

Born in Augusta, GA, Johnny was the beloved son of the late Harry Britt Syms Jr. and Kathleen Carter Ward. He dedicated many years to Weed Wackers Landscaping, where he found joy in beautifying the community. Johnny's unique approach to life and work left a lasting impression on those around him.

Johnny is survived and lovingly remembered by his stepmother, Virginia Syms; siblings, Michael Syms (Tammy), Marie Shelby (Jim), and Janet Stewart (Rich); aunts, Patricia Garrett and Shirley Wannamaker; uncle, Eddie Carter (Sharon); and his beloved niece and nephew, Brittany and Lane Syms. He was preceded in death by siblings Tracy Syms and Mike McKenzie, whose memories continue to live on within the family.

The Syms family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Benjamin and the entire staff at Monterey Restaurant in North Augusta, SC, for their unwavering kindness and support shown to Johnny over the years. Their generosity and compassion have been a source of comfort and solace to Johnny and his loved ones.

Johnny's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, yet his spirit will forever live on in the memories shared and the lives he touched. As we gather to honor his life, let us remember the joy, laughter, and love Johnny brought into our world. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility he so dearly loved.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
