Julian Rachels Obituary

Mr. Julian Patrick "Pat" Rachels Jr., 88, of Appling, passed away on September 21, 2025.

Pat was a lifelong Augusta area resident. He was a retired carrier from the US Postal Service and was an avid golfer. His passion was softball. Pat played in the senior league from age 50-73. He was inducted into the Senior Softball Hall of Fame in April of 2008 and in the same year was inducted into the Softball Players Association Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Georgia High School Football Referee Association.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Lema T. Rachels; his children, Gloria Lynn Rachels, and Julian P. Rachels III; and one grandchild, Katelyn Audrey Rachels.

A memorial service will be held on Friday September 26, 2025 at Sharon Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Andy Collins officiating.
