Rusty McKenzie Obituary

Rusty McKenzie, 66, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on September 10, 1959, in Jackson, South Carolina, Rusty brought light and laughter into the world from the very beginning.

He was a man of quick wit and even quicker chess moves-a formidable opponent across the board and across the backyard grill. Known for being the life of every BBQ, Rusty had a knack for turning ordinary afternoons into unforgettable gatherings. Whether flipping steaks to perfection or fixing a broken lawnmower with nothing but duct tape and determination, he was a "fix-it" wizard whose talents knew few bounds.

Rusty's personality was as bold as his laugh. While he was known to have a bit of a fuse, he was also a true gentleman-always giving fair warning before any fireworks began. His honesty and humor made him unforgettable to those who knew him.

He leaves behind two beloved daughters, Kelly and Amanda Moore; grandchildren Cash Moore and Keegan Moore-Driggers; sisters Tammy McKenzie and Penny Franklin; and niece Barbara Tabor. Each of them carries forward his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Peggy Moore and Henry McKenzie, as well as his brother Danny McKenzie.

Though he has departed this world, Rusty's spirit lives on in every shared joke around the dinner table, every perfectly grilled steak at family cookouts, and every cherished memory held close by those who loved him. He entered the world a stranger to no one and left it as a hero to us.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
