Thomas Edge Obituary

Flowery Branch, Ga formerly of Grovetown, Ga.- Mr. Tommy Edge, 83, entered into rest on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Tommy was known by most of his friends as "Edge" and he was a passionate fisherman and sports fanatic. He loved to root for Georgia Tech, The NY Yankees, Golden State Warriors and pretty much any team that was playing opposite of the University of Georgia. Tommy was also a huge golf fan and looked forward to The Masters golf tournament every year. While most of the people he loved didn't agree with Tommy in regards to sports or politics, he was always a pleasure to be around. He never let a day go by without calling and getting "the scoop" from his friends and family. Above all else, Tommy believed that nothing was more important than family and friendships. He was extremely proud of his family and loved to spend time with them. Although, it should be said, his love for family never stopped him from beating them in a good ol' game of cards.

Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Rosanna J. Edge, and his parents, Thomas W. Edge Sr. (Pete) and Frances Strader Edge. He is survived by his children, Heather (and Keith) Elliott, and Nancy Edge; grandchildren, Bryce Edge, Austin and Anna Elliott and Zachary Lucas; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

The family will receive friends on Monday June 17, 2024, from 1-2pm at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd. Augusta, Ga. 30907 (706)364-8484. Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 2pm. Please sign the guestbook at www.thomaspoteet.com

The family would like to create a living Memorial Garden in honor of Tommy. In lieu of cut flowers, the family welcomes donations of live plants for the garden. These plants will create a lasting and beautiful tribute to Tommy that can be enjoyed by all.

Tommy and I met in the fall of 1958 at Richmond Academy in Augusta Georgia. We were in ROTC together. Tommy was my squad sergeant. After that we went separate ways in high school but met in the fall of 1960 where we both had joined the army National Guard.. In July 1961 our unit was in a massive reserve call up and sent to Fort Meade Maryland, where we served until August 1962. During that time, Tommy and. I Became very close with a A few other guys who bunked right next to each other. After we were released, we spent time together around Augusta until I was married June 1965. I moved to the other side of town and eventually to Columbia South Carolina in 1974. I did not really see Tommy again until a high school reunion in the summer of 2015. Since that time, and especially the last three years, we talked via phone twice a week. We both shared our Christian face during the early part of that time and talked of it frequently. We shared other topics we were passionate about and Tommy began to tell me of his Health situation which slowly got worse over time., especially the last few months. Buddy I will miss you and our friendship. And I am certain that we will see each other soon in heaven. I love you and God bless you.
