Alice Shipley Obituary
Alice Marie Shipley, cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025. She was 98 years old. Born on Sunday, January 30, 1927, in Baltimore, Maryland, Alice lived a life marked by dedication, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Alice pursued a 2-year business education, which laid the foundation for her successful career as an Administrative Secretary at Nations Bank. Her work there was characterized by dedication and professionalism until her retirement in 1986.
Alice was deeply involved in her community and found joy and companionship through her active participation in Englewood Methodist Church in Englewood Florida. She also was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 63 at the Odenton Lodge. She had a passion for bingo, reading, and puzzles, simple pleasures that reflected her zest for life and sharp mind.
Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Shipley Sr.; her parents, George C. Schmidt and Alice Margaret Schmidt; and her sister, Virginia Smith. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter Janis G Shipley of Odenton, MD, son and daughter in law William "Shelby" Shipley and Lee Ann Shipley of Fallston; her sister, Eileen Lucke; her treasured grandchildren, Melissa Baxter (Ben Baxter), Alison Palmor (Yoni Palmor), Jessica Schmidt (Shane Schmidt), and William "Will" Shipley, III; as well as six great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the afternoon visitation on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and the evening visitation from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, Pasadena, Maryland. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
In remembrance of Alice's love and generosity, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Morningside House of Friendship in Hanover or the Audubon Society, causes close to Alice's heart.
Alice Marie Shipley will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness, commitment, and love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
