Carolyn Jeanetta York

Carolyn Jeanetta York, age 89, of Selbyville, DE formerly of Sykesville, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born May 11, 1936, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Albert C. and Margaret K. (Smith) Dellinger. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Edgar "Bud" Bentley York and by her son, Jeffrey Edgar York. Her survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Belinda York; daughter, Deborah Fairall; 4 grandchildren, Dr. Danielle York, Laura York, Pierce York, and Nicole Fairall; 6 great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Mateo, Bentley, Nicolas, Hendrix and Lane along with many nieces and nephews. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in addition to working many years as a beautician. She also worked as a bookkeeper for her late husband's business. Her love for crocheting meant that many family members and friends received her wonderfully made blankets. An avid Bingo player, she sometimes attended all night bingos with friends and always seemed lucky enough to win. She loved spending time with her family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 5 PM to 7 PM and Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 12 PM to 1 PM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will follow at 1 PM. Interment to follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be made to the Gamber Volunteer Fire Department or the Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, MD.
