Douglas Carey Johnson

Douglas Carey Johnson, 72, of Sykesville passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at home. He was born on January 7, 1953, in Washington, DC to the late Carey Kenyon Johnson and Marion Jackson Johnson. Douglas received a undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and then a masters degree from Western Maryland College. Douglas was a special education teacher in the Howard County Public School System until his retirement. He spent several years at Clarksville Middle School and Long Reach High School. Douglas enjoyed traveling the world, baking, canning and woodworking. He is survived by brothers, Richard Johnson of Sterling, VA and David Johnson and wife Paula of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will follow at 2:30pm at the funeral home.
