Edna Grauel Obituary

Edna Betty (Ousborne) Grauel of Westminster, Maryland, died on January 26, 2025, age 96 years, at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster. She was the devoted wife of 72 years to Robert H. "Bob" Grauel, who preceded her in death in 2021. Edna was born in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of the late Louis and Etta Ousborne. She worked for the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab Federal Credit Union in Fulton, Maryland. After the family moved to Carroll County, she worked for the Board of Education in the library at Sykesville Middle School for many years. Upon their retirement, Bob and Edna spent part of each year in Lantana, Florida, along with their close friends. Edna was involved in volunteer activities in Florida and at Carroll Lutheran Village. Before moving to Westminster, Edna was a faithful and committed member of First Lutheran Church, Ellicott City, Maryland. She also served as a greeter at the Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village. Edna is survived by her sons and their wives, R. Wayne (Anne) and Bruce H. (Carol Mercer); grandchildren Nicholas Grauel, Jessica Grauel, R. John Grauel, Aaron Grauel, Maureen Grauel, Jared Mercer and Nathaniel Mercer; and three great-grandchildren. Beside her husband, Edna was predeceased by one sister. A private graveside committal service will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will take place at Union Cemetery, Burtonsville, Maryland, in the Grauel family plot. Haight Funeral Home in Sykesville is assisting the family. Please omit flowers; if desired, memorial contributions in Edna's name may be made to BridgingLife Hospice Care, Westminster, MD.
