Elizabeth Cunningham Obituary

     Elizabeth Ann Murphy “Betty” Cunningham, 96, passed away peacefully August 17, 2025. Betty was born in Boston, Massachusetts, December 12, 1928, to Patrick and Margaret (Concannon) Murphy. Betty graduated from Watertown High School in 1947 and worked as a dental hygienist after attending Bosting School of Nursing. In 1952 she married Joseph Antony Cunningham. They traveled extensively throughout their lives. Betty graduated from UMBC with a major in History. She retired after 20 years from NSA. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed photography. She also enjoyed yard work and had lovely flower gardens. Betty entertained family and friends. Betty loved animals and had many “dog” friends at home. She was also a devoted caregiver to her husband Joe. Betty was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.

     Betty was preceded in death by her parents, younger sister, Katherine, Aunt Julia and Uncle Charlie Curran and her husband Joe. Arrangements by Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Betty to a charity of your choice.
