Georgia Lee Dunfee (née Drennan)

Georgia Lee Dunfee, née Drennan, passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on July 21, 1936, in Glencoe, Ohio, to Robert and Inez Drennan, Georgia was the eldest of five siblings: Robert Jr., Sandy, Richard, and Harry, all of whom preceded her in passing.

Georgia’s life was built upon a foundation of faith in God and love for family. Her faith in Christ became the guiding force in her life and the center of the family she was blessed with. She embodied generosity, kindness, and an unwavering loyalty to those she loved. She lived out her faith daily, always offering encouragement, wisdom, and love to those around her. She leaves an incredible legacy of faith, family, and love.

At just 13 years old, Georgia met the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Dunfee, at a church picnic. After he toasted a perfect marshmallow for her, she decided she would marry him—and in 1953, she did. Their 71-year marriage was filled with love, adventure, and devotion. Their greatest joy was the life they built together, welcoming not only their son, Tim, but also many individuals and families who became cherished "adopted" family members.

Georgia had a distinguished career at AFL-CIO, where she served as the Executive Event Planner. Her role required navigating complex situations and coordinating large-scale events, tasks she handled with grace, diplomacy, and efficiency. Her common sense, great sense of humor, and genuine care for people made her a natural in this demanding role and earned her deep respect from colleagues and friends alike.

Georgia is survived by her beloved husband, Chuck, and her precious son, Tim, along with his wife, Kristin. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Eloise Drennan; her brother-in-law, Floyd Dunfee, and his wife, Carolyn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews. The brightest lights in her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Logan; Sierra, her husband, Matthew, and their coming child; Cheyenne, her husband, Matthew, and son, Jeremy; Ben, his wife, Bethany, and their daughters, Amelia, Felicity, and Lucy; and Alexa, her husband, Patrick, and their son, Charles.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD. The visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, with the service following at 3:00 PM. Georgia will be laid to rest at Cheltenham Military Cemetery in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity. 

Georgia’s faith in God, love, strength, and kindness will continue to shine through the lives of all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of faith is echoed in her child, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Her greatest desire in life is that all will come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.
