Heather Ruane Obituary

Heather Leigh Ruane (nee Crouse), 42, of Westminster, MD, passed away on June 12, 2025. Heather fought a courageous battle against cancer but never let that stop her from living her best life. Heather grew up in Ellicott City, MD, the daughter of Julie Novak (Steve) and Patrick Crouse (Casey). She graduated from Centennial High School in Ellicott City, MD, and then attended Longwood University. At Longwood, Heather walked on to the University's lacrosse team, playing defense all four years and ultimately winning a scholarship. Heather graduated in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, Heather worked for ten years in corporate sales at Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery, where she earned rave reviews from management and her clients. While at Ferguson, she also worked in catering, from serving to management. In 2018, she joined 1423 Events, where she was promoted to Principal Planner. She worked at 1423 up until her passing. In September 2006, she married the love of her life, Brian, with whom she had four sons. Family was critically important to Heather; she loved nothing more than spending time with her boys - helping them with school projects, playing on the beach at Emerald Isle and cheering them on at their many sporting events. Heather also shared her fierce work ethic and dedication to her sons with other local athletes - she spent many happy years doing nearly everything for the Sykesville Raiders football program, including serving as their Vice President and Secretary. In short, Heather generously gave of her time and talents to family and friends and touched the lives of many with her endless energy, sense of humor, common sense, warmth, creativity and outgoing personality. She will be deeply missed. Heather is survived by her husband, Brian Joseph Ruane, and their four sons, Conor Jameson, Braeden Joseph, Finn Cooper, and Grayson Thomas. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Jordan Crouse (Bob Johnson), her brothers, Brenden Berryman Crouse and Nathan Patrick Crouse, her in-laws (Frank and Sandy Ruane), and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family members. Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD. Memorial contributions in Heather's memory may be sent to the charity of your choice. Online condolences can be made at www.haightfuneralhome.com
