It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jackie Ray Thompson Sr., a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and proud Army Veteran, who passed away at his home on March 8, 2025, at the age of 71.
Jackie was the loving husband of Eva Thompson, and a devoted father to Sharon Thompson and the late Jackie Ray Thompson Jr., and his wife Tisha Thompson. He was the proud grandfather of Heather Penn and Wayne Penn and his wife Selina, and a cherished great-grandfather to Bentley, Kaelynn, Jayson, and Hudson. Jackie was also a dear brother to Ron Thompson (wife Mary) and the late Freddie Thompson (wife Juanita). He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Elizabeth Thompson.
Jackie was a man of strong character, with a quick wit and a love for life. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and received Honorable Discharge as a disabled Veteran. He could often be found enjoying a cold Natural Light while watching NASCAR or rooting for the Baltimore Ravens. Jackie was known for his sense of humor, and his ability to bring laughter to any room. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family will receive visitors on Thursday March 20, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM, with a service to celebrate Jackie's life beginning at 8:00 PM. Interment services will be held on Friday March 21, 2025, at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, beginning promptly at 11:30 AM.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will forever be remembered for his love, laughter, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
