Mary Elizabeth Summers Obituary

Mary Catherine Elizabeth Summers, affectionally known as "Kay" passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, September 16, 2024, only a few blocks away from her childhood home in Westminster located in Carroll County, Maryland at BridgingLife "Dove House" Hospice. Mary was born on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944, in Westminster to the late Sherman Joseph Summers and Anna Christine Sims. She graduated from Robert Moton High School Mary went on to receive her associate's degree from Morgan State University. After graduating, she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in Baltimore for over 35 years before retiring. Mary attended the Douglas Memorial Community Church in Baltimore Maryland. Mary is survived by her sisters, Viola T. Cook, Evelyn Christine Summers, and Madonna Black; daughters, Tracey Vanessa Norris-Black, Eva Novelle Valentine, Melissa Kaye Copeland (Bryant), and Kimberly Evelyn Summers; beloved grand children who affectionally called her "Nana" (the name she picked) Nicole Simms, Amanda "Manda" McCain, Brandon Valentine, and Quinn Bryant; great-grandchildren, Jasmyn Davis, Davon Boykin, Kegan Boykin, Jo'El Boykin and Terry Simms, Jr. In Lieu of flowers the family ask that you send donations in memory of Mary Summers to Bridging Life "Dove House" Hospice 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, Maryland 21157 or Douglas Memorial Community Church. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, with family visitation at 10:30 and the funeral at 11:00 am at Douglas Memorial Community Church located at 1325 West Madison Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21217, Dr. Sheridan Todd Yeary, Senior Pastor.
