Nancy Dunlap Obituary

Nancy Dunlap, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on Wednesday, August 17, 1938, in Charlotte County, Virginia, Nancy lived a rich and fulfilling life. She resided in Severna Park, Maryland, but called Arlington, Virginia, her home for over 60 years. Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late John Stanley Breedlove Sr. and Gracie Ione Breedlove. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Duane Dunlap, and her dear siblings, John, William, Alex, Martha and Safford Breedlove, Nancy was a beacon of strength and kindness throughout her life. A graduate of Randolph Henry High School, Nancy's career included dedicated service to Sears and Roebuck in various positions. After raising her beloved children, she returned to the workforce as a talented florist at Giant Food in Northern Virginia until her retirement. Nancy was a devoted member of the Arlington Seniors community and found immense joy in gardening and floral arrangements. Her vibrant flowers were a testament to her love for beauty and nature. Above all, her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She is survived by her loving children, Dawn Blank and her husband Charles, Neil Dunlap, and her daughter-in-law Debbie Risco. Nancy's legacy continues in her grandchildren, Christian Dunlap, Liam Risco, MaryGrace Blank, and Charleigh Blank, who will carry forward the values she instilled in them. Nancy is also survived by her dear siblings, Frank Breedlove, Peggy Sims, Francis Breedlove, and several nieces and nephews who remember her fondly. Friends and family may visit on Sunday, March 9th from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. A graveside service will take place Tuesday, March 11th at 2 pm at Beulah Baptist Church and Cemetery in Hatcreek, VA. In honor of Nancy's life and her courageous battle with Alzheimer's, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association to support continued research and assistance for those affected by the disease. Nancy Dunlap's life was a testament to love, family, and perseverance. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all.

So sad to receive the news. I was blessed to be a part of Nancy's life until events in our lives took us in different directions.
I never forgot her kind heart and warm spirit. She made everyone around her feel welcome and special. My daughters loved her as much as I did. Such a special person.
