Mr. Robert E. Newcomer

Robert Earle Newcomer, "Bob", of Sykesville, Md, passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born in Williamsport, Maryland on May 20, 1931, to the late Sallye and Grayson Earle Newcomer, the oldest of four boys. He was predeceased by his brothers Don, William, and Jack Newcomer. Bob served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Maryland at College Park and went on to study Law. He was a Naval Defense Contracts Manager for Vitro Corporation in Silver Spring, Maryland for over 25 years. He took a pause from his law studies after marrying Bobby Lou. They were introduced by mutual friends at the Sykesville American Legion. They loved dancing, spending time together, playing cards with extended family and raising their children. Bob was extremely supportive of Bobby Lou's flower shop that she owned in Sykesville for over 20 years. The two were married for over 34 years. Bob's devotion to Bobby Lou was never more evident than him functioning as her primary caretaker for ten years before her passing in 1995. Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed riding horses, fishing, hunting and had a passion for shooting. Bob especially loved cooking. He made the best apple dumplings and cookies. He would often gift his homemade delicacies to friends and family when he visited. In addition to his parents, three brothers, and beloved Bobby Lou, Bob was predeceased by his son Michael Deal, and sister-in-law Patricia Newcomer. Bob leaves behind his loving daughters; Lauren Newcomer-Leverett and husband Fred of Sykesville, Robin Lancaster and her husband Michael of Rhode Island, and Toni Deal of Sykesville. He also leaves behind his 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Danielle Newcomer, former sister-in-law Nancy Newcomer and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Bob will be missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday October 17th at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel at with visitation at 10:00 A.M. and service with military honors at 11:00 A.M.
