Russell Thomas Jones, Jr., age 93 of Mitchellville, Maryland, formerly of Bowie, Maryland, passed away on July 27, 2025. He was born October 3, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Russ was a devoted husband to his wife, Sylvia Crabbs Jones (deceased). He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Jones, and son Mark Jones (Lori). Russ was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and he and his wife spent time abroad in Germany. After leaving his military service, he joined the Federal government and began his long career as an Economist with the U.S. Interstate Commerce Commission. He loved playing slot machines, traveling and visiting Walt Disney World - he loved everything Disney.
A private memorial service will be held at the Christian Community Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for him over the past few years.
