Sandra Lee Hawkins, 78, of Marriottsville, MD passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Howard County General Hospital. She was born on June 6, 1946, in South Carolina to the late Myrtle Aileen King Rich and Ralph Donald Rich. She was the wife of the late Harry Richard Hawkins. Sandra retired from the Howard County Public School System where she had served as a school secretary at West Friendship Elementary School for most of her career. She was a longtime member and former past president of the West Friendship Fire Department Auxiliary. She had a great love of animals, especially her cats and horses. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Lori Lynn and Dale Colson of Sykesville; son and daughter-in-law Brian Todd and Kathleen Walker of Woodbine; sister Carole Lusby and husband Ben of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren: Seth Colson, Stefanie Walker Broadhurst and husband Travis, Shelby Colson Coate and husband Jacob, Bennett Walker and wife Michelle and Cody Walker and great-grandchildren Wayne and Cole Walker and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10am to 12pm on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a celebration of life service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Marriottsville, MD. Those desiring may make memorial donations in her memory may do so to the West Friendship Fire Department Auxiliary.
