Vance E. Belcher, a dedicated Senior Officer with the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, passed away on January 7, 2025, in York, Pennsylvania. Born on February 23, 1973, in Baltimore, Maryland, Vance made a profound impact on his community over the course of his life and career.
Following his graduation from Class #31 of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Vance devoted 24 years of service to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public. Before embarking on his law enforcement career, Vance also served as a volunteer firefighter in Anne Arundel County during his youth, demonstrating his lifelong dedication to helping others.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Vance had a zest for life that was infectious. He had a passion for attending concerts, where he could revel in the artistry of music and connect with others who shared similar interests. Theme parks were another of his favorite venues, as they provided him with joy and excitement. In quieter moments, Vance cherished his time taking walks with his beloved dog, "Sgt. Pickles", enjoying the simple pleasures of companionship and nature.
Vance is survived by his wife, Charlene V. Belcher; his children, Pennelope Tzamalis, Emmanuel Tzamalis, Jameson Belcher, Madison Belcher and Ashlyn Belcher; his uncle, Ed Zukowski (Denise); his siblings, George Belcher and Lisa Housand; and his beloved Bernese Mountain dog, Sgt. Pickles. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Linda Belcher.
Vance E. Belcher leaves behind a legacy of courage, service, and enjoyment of life’s many offerings. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
