Scott Patman Obituary

Scott "Slim" Patman of Vallonia peacefully slipped into the arms of our Lord while surrounded by his immediate family at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015.
He was born June 25, 1957 in Seymour, Indiana to Raymond Levi Patman and Mary Ann (Eggersman) Patman; they both preceded him in death.
Scott married Libby (Herndon) Patman on Dec. 18, 1977; she survives along with his son Nathan Patman, daughter-in-law Angie Patman, grandson Brendan Patman, a brother Tom (Stacey) Patman and a sister Susan (Dewey) Robinson.
Scott was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Brownstown. He was a 1975 graduate of Brownstown Central High School and then went in to the Army National Guard in 1975 where he served until 1981. He then worked in the family construction business until his health prevented him from working.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He raced street stock and modified dirt track cars all over Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois and various other tracks across the Eastern half of the country, even traveling as far as Amarillo, Texas in 1995 in the inaugural $50,000 to win Texas Gold Rush.
He won around 90 features, 6 track championships, multiple special events at various tracks around the region and in 2013 was elected, along with his brother Tom, to the Brownstown Speedway Hall of Fame.
Visitation will be this Thursday, Jan. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9 at Johnson's Funeral Home in Vallonia.
Memorials in his honor can be made to Medora Goes Pink or another charity of your choice.
