Betty Jo Sears

Betty Jo Musgrove Sears, 91, of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Bayview Nursing and Rehab, in Nahunta, with her son by her side.

She was born in Waycross to the late Robert and Idell Musgrove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Sears; a daughter, Linda Sears Anderson; a son, Randal W. Sears; and two brothers, Donald Musgrove and Lloyd Musgrove.

She is survived by a son, Jimmy R. Sears (Patsy); two brothers, Bobby Musgrove (Patricia) and Jimmy Musgrove; grandchildren, Thomas Sears of Brunswick; Elisha (Seth) Shingleton of Athens, Pennsylvania and Richard Sears of Liberty, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Rylee Sears, Hayley Sears, Sawyer Bowie, Ethan Sites, Liam Sites, Jordyn Sears, Noah Sears and Leah Sears; and several nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life she was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, where she served as a minister, Sunday School teacher and other roles in the church. She was an Avon lady for many years.

Her positive, loving and caring attitude affected many who came in contact with her. She is greatly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Sterling Church of God of Prophecy on Georgia, Highway 99, with Chris Boyd officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Many thanks for all the prayers for our family and the staff of Bayview Nursing Home and Rehab.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home and Crematory, in Hinesville.
