Christian Akers Wyatt Akers
Christian Parker Akers, 35, of Sequim, Washington, formerly of St. Simons Island, passed away on Oct. 30, 2025, in a tragic boating accident alongside his beloved son, Wyatt Akers, age 6.
Born on June 14, 1990, in Brunswick, Christian was the son of Susan Shiver Barrow and David Michael "Mike" Akers. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Hyde Parker Shiver and Mike Akers.
Christian grew up on St. Simons Island and graduated from Glynn Academy in 2008. He completed his AA degree at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) and attended Georgia Southern University before serving his country in the United States Navy as a nuclear electronics technician for six years. Most recently, he worked on the Salmon Restoration Project for the Washington Conservation Corps and the AmeriCorps North Olympic Salmon Coalition. He was the owner of Olympic Peninsula Chrome and Steel and a professional fishing guide, sharing his love of the outdoors with countless others.
Fishing was his lifelong passion, matched only by his love for the outdoors and for Georgia Bulldogs football.
As a young man, Christian was a member of Boy Scout Troop 248 at St. Simons United Methodist Church and achieved the rank of Life Scout. Those who fished or worked alongside him remember his knowledge of the water, his easy confidence and the joy he found in helping others experience the thrill of fishing - whether it was their first trip or their hundredth.
Christian loved his family deeply. He survived by his devoted wife, Daylee Joers Akers, and took great joy in sharing his love of the outdoors with his sons, Wyatt and Aiden, who shared his curiosity, courage, and bright spirit. Together, they could often be found fishing, hunting, or exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. He is also survived by his mother and father, Susan (Jody) Barrow and Mike (Lea) Akers; sisters, Ashley Akers (Scott) Trudon and Blythe Barrow; brothers, David Michael Akers Jr. and Joseph Barrow; niece, Rosie, and nephew, Turner Trudon; and cousins, Madeline and Parker Jacobs.
Christian will be remembered for his loyalty, his passion for his beliefs, and his generous spirit. Whether as a sailor, conservationist, guide, or friend, he gave his heart fully to what he loved.
Christian's greatest joy, however, was being a father. His love for his sons was boundless, and the deep bond he shared with Wyatt and Aiden was evident to all who knew them.
Wyatt Parker Akers, 6, of Sequim, passed away alongside his devoted father on October 30, 2025. Wyatt recently entered a homeschool co-op and was known by all who knew him for his big heart, quick smile and friendly enthusiasm. His brother, cousins, and family were a great source of his joy. Playing Pokémon, LEGO and soccer were his favorite hobbies. He especially loved spending time with his brother, Aiden, and their adventures together will remain treasured memories to all who love them.
Wyatt is survived by his loving mother, Daylee Joers Akers of Sequim; his brother, Aiden Daniel Akers; and his maternal grandparents, Pete and Elizabeth Joers of Port Angeles, Washington. He is also survived by his paternal great-grandparents, Linda Tisdale and the late Larry Livingston, and Jeanne Hill Joers and the late Ronald Joers, of Seattle; and his aunt, Jaedyn "Maxine" Joers, of Sequim.
Wyatt is deeply mourned by his paternal grandparents, Susan (Jody) Barrow of Eatonton and Mike (Lea) Akers of Dandridge, Tennessee; his stepgreat-grandparents, Faye White and the late Tom White, also of Dandridge; his aunts and uncles, Ashley Akers (Scott) Trudon, Blythe Barrow, David Michael Akers Jr., Joseph Barrow, Billy (Crystal) Akers and Alan (Peggy) Akers, all of St. Simons Island, and the late John Akers of Jensen Beach, Florida; his cousins, Rosie and Turner Trudon, Madeline and Parker Jacobs; Heather Akers, Michael Akers, Hannah Akers, Emma Akers, and by many other relatives and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A celebration of life honoring both Wyatt and his father, Christian, will be held on Dec. 6 at the home of Christian's aunt and uncle, Cindy and Russell Jacobs, on St. Simons Island
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a cause that supports youth and family outdoor education or conservation, continuing the legacy of love for nature that Christian and Wyatt shared.
For those who wish to offer direct support to Daylee and Aiden during this difficult time, the family in Washington has established a GoFundMe page to help with expenses and provide stability for their future. Contributions may be made at https://go fund.me/7082e04fc.
Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, Washington, is in charge of the arrangements.
