James Williams Obituary

Tony Williams

James Anthony "Tony" Williams, 67, of Waverly, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Tony was a graduate of the Brunswick High Class of 1974. After graduation, he enrolled in Brunswick Junior College, where he studied accounting, and later, the art of welding. Tony held a variety of positions throughout his career including Dixie O'Brien paint store, Sterling Wood Products, Belk department store, and many others before opening his own business, Glynn Floors. He later sold that business and opened his current store, Floors and More.

Socially, Tony loved adventure and being in the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman - "the triple-tail legend" - who loved nature and being on the water. He enjoyed cocktail hour and watching sunsets. Tony was very family oriented and loved being around his friends and family; he also served as a father figure and mentor to many young men in the community. He loved life and enjoyed traveling the U.S. and world, visiting over 15 states and 35 countries - with Nosara, Costa Rica, holding a special place in his heart. He was charming, never met a stranger, and had an infectious smile - he will be deeply missed by all those lucky to be in his orbit.

His father, William Hilton "Billy" Williams; and stepfather, Randy Tedder, preceded him in death.

Tony is survived by his wife of 34 years, Robin Ashley Williams; two daughters, Jami Williams Shirah (Doug) of Townsend and Morgan Williams (Dave Culhane) of Quincy, Massachusetts; a grandson, Jackson Shirah of Townsend; his mother, June Spivey Tedder of Brunswick; three siblings, Nita Foster of Brunswick, Randy Williams (Kathleen) of Tampa, and Ronda Tedder Outler (Chris) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and his best buddy, Toby, who went to work with Tony and Robin every day.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Jeff Lynn officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dean Buie, Jason Carlin, Jamie Dean, Steve Edwards, Brian Logue and JoJo Whorton. Honorary pallbearers will be Sea Island Services and Ramsey McHale.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, with a reception to be held at the family home immediately after.

Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, www.edomillerandsons.com.

Now, after reading Tony's obituary and seeing the photos featured, my heart is filled with sadness at the loss of this man whose life filled this community with such positive energy and joy.
