Jerry Medders Obituary

Jerry Medders

Jerry Wayne Medders, born on Aug. 5, 1945, in Brunswick, met Jesus face-to-face on Sept. 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lucille Medders; in-laws, Mitchell and Yvonne McGraw; a daughter, Pearl Medders; and a granddaughter, Emalyne Belle Medders.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra McGraw Medders; his son, Kelly and Marcia Medders of Jacksonville; son, Christian and Cayla Medders of Athens, Tennessee; and daughter, Charity and Dustin Martin of Brunswick. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Victoria and Andrew Howell, Kaitlin Medders, Sarah and Eric Patterson, Tucker Medders, Madelyn Martin, Isaac Martin, Sophia Martin, Kash Medders; and great-grandson, Grayson Medders. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandra Medders; brother-in-law, Michael McGraw and Olynda Hull; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry loved the Lord and raised his family to do the same. He enjoyed spending time sharing a story or watching the Georgia Bulldog football game with family and friends. He was a beloved Chick-fil-A operator in the Golden Isles for over 25 years. He loved his community and the people that lived here. He also enjoyed spending time outside fishing off his dock or piddling in his work shed. He and Sandy loved to antique shop together looking for something unique.

Jerry served in the United States Navy as an air traffic controller in Adak, Alaska, where he jokingly said he was taller than the trees. He was a patriot and loved his country.

His faith in Jesus was his most important decision he ever made. He lived his life with honor and integrity, striving to bring glory to the Lord in doing so. His legacy is his strong faith in the Lord that he so often shared with others. Please know he would want you to know his King too.

Jerry was a long-time member of Christian Renewal Church in Brunswick, and Connect Church of Jacksonville.

Tucker Medders, Eric Patterson, Isaac Martin, Kash Medders, Andrew Howell and Michael McGraw will serve as pallbearers.

Michael McGraw, Marvin Minton, Neal Jump, Leslie Parkman, Richard Parkman and Jimmy Veal will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, at Christian Renewal Church of Brunswick, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Kelly Medders, Pastor Charity Martin, Pastor Bill Ligon and Christian Medders will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Homeward Cemetery, in Waverly.

Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, www.edomillerandsons.com, is in charge of the services.
